I read in Thai forum and very upset on the price of the food in Restaurant. I mean 'some' restaurant that cheat only. The fish in the attached images cost him 37 US dollar, that is too much. It should be around 7 US Dollar in ordinary restaurant only.
I read in magazine long times ago, in the olden days Thai fishermen went to Vietnam, and as soon as the trawler , net, lift the fish from Vietnam sea, Wow...lot of fish, shrimp. They can pay all debts if catching fish in Vietnam for 2-3 times. But later...Vietnam found out and put those fishermen in prison.
When in prison....the engineer, mechanics, who has ability to fix engines, will get the job to fix the JEEP car left out after VN war. Those mechanics did well, he took parts from the old car.....replace in another car, out of 5 Jeep, he can fix 2-3 Jeeps and bring a lot of smile from Mr. Nguyen.
For Fishermen who has no technical back ground, .......imagine what he did when he were there.....go to the rice field, one man as a farmer, one man as a buffalo ! Not insult , I have picture but misplaced somewhere.
Back to the topic, how much is it...The fish as shown, in your country.
I think it depends on what kind of fish you order. If you order good fish, rare, and yummy one, the price may be expensive. Just think like this. A small piece of fish on the rice (Sushi) in Japan is around 1 $ per plate. The whole big fish may cost up to 100$ or even more expensive.
For the fish in Laos, Mekong fish is the most yummy one. The price depend on the size.
There are many restaurants in Thailand that ripped off the customers. For my stupidity, I ended up paying over $300 for 4 seafood plates. I did not see their fine print that they put the measurement in gram.
Hi! Thanks for the great information you have provided! You have touched on crucuial points! i bookmarked it and will be back to check it out some more later.
