25th SEA Game Football Men Team Prediction

I've read a lot of your comments and I think u got a different comment, reality, well informed in sport with everybody
I just wonder are u Vietnamese??? Why u overvalue the u23 Vietnamese team in this seagame tournament??
In group B, Myanmar and Indonesia very hard to defeat, and I commend Myanmar to go to next round, the last ticket of semifinal is competition between Indonesia and Laos

Thanks for your reading. Why did i overvalue Vietnam? Well, in fact, I don't overvalue Vietnam - I just predicted from the FACT of the performance each team has prepared so far.

To my point of view, three countries that are in the TOP of my mind if considering to be the champion are: Thailand, Vietnam & Singapore. Why? Because they are the strongest teams in SEA region. They are well-prepared for this SEA game.

Though Myanmar and Indonesia are the tough team to defeat, but remember the games is held in Laos. With huge/overwhelming supports from their fans and its strict preparation, Laos team may make a surprise. Never underestimate the host team. E.g: France could become the champion of World Cup 1998 in its home which was a BIG surprise. Recently, Cambodia could beat the one of strongest professional Vietnam V-League team and crown the champion! One old saying said, "the ball is round" so no-one can predict the result accurately until the games finished.

Honestly, my heart wants Laos, Cambodia or Myanmar crown the champion, but my head says no!

I believe the strongest teams in SEA will be the ones you indicate, Vietnam and Thailand with Singapore coming 3rd. Yes Laos will have home support but they are simply not as strong as the other 3 teams.
I'm from Cambodia and would love my team to get through the group A but we are still learning at international level and I feel Vietnam and Thailand will have too much know-how for us. But we will give it our best shot.
We just won a 4-team tournament at home and in the final we beat HAGL from the V-league in front of 30,000 fans, but the SEA Games will be different. The competition will be fierce and some teams are better organized than others and have spent longer together in preparing. Those teams will reap the rewards in the SEA Games.
I keep my fingers crossed for Cambodian success but I have to be realistic.

Back to Vietnam last 2 years, they send u23 national team to played Olympic qualified round. They crowned with success when they came to third round with unbelievable result ( win Oman 2-0, win Saudi Arabia 1-0, lose Japan 0-1). After that tournament, all Vietnamese fans have so much confident in their u23 national team, high ability to get a gold in Thailand, but they soon disappointed, their u23 team finished at the semifinal (penalty kick with Myanmar), then lost 0-5 Singapore. For what reason???? Because their u23 team have no more energy, no more power.

Secondly, Laos and Cambodia u23 teams improving so fast, but not enough to go to semifinal this Seagame. Laos has more advantage than Cambodia when they play in their home soil

My response would be as follow: Like Cambodia, Laos team is just emerging. But who know, as I said earlier, the ball is round. If you can recall back a bit, South Korean could go for Semi-final in World Cup 2002 created a BIG surprise. I think it is no different from Laos now.

At least, it is not easy for Thailand, Vietnam or Singapore to beat either Cambodia or Laos anymore. They have to work hard or otherwise they will get shocked.

I'm telling u the true about the story, like I said: Laos and Cambodia improving so fast, they played well, good elegant, they have a good coach as well.
But in Sea region, we have 2 groups, the first group has Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar, the second group has Laos, Philippines, Cambodia, Brunei,... and there is a wide gap between the first one and the second one, don't u think?????
Seagame 25, I overvalue Laos will have a chance to get into semifinal, Cambodia try to win Timor Leste, a draw with last 3 teams will be success for them and just wait for few more year when Seagame organize by Cambodia

I believe that Laos will pass the first round, second will be Indonesia. We also be surprise in Cambodia team this time. They will make some difficulties for Thailand and Vietnam. I expect that Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Indonesia will be in semifinal. And Vietnam & Thailand will win for final. Rather difficult to guest which team will be champion.

In my opinion, in SEA region the football men teams can be classified as the follow:

In the past few years:

First Class
1. Thailand
2. Vietnam
3. Singapore

Second Class
1. Malaysia
2. Indonesia
3. Myanmar

Third Class
1. Laos
2. Cambodia
3. Philippine
4. East Timor
5. Brunei

You're right. There is a very big gap between the first vs third class.

But for 2009, Laos and Cambodia are claiming the ladder to the second class. So now in total there are 5 members in the second class. As the new comers, they can be big thread for old members in the second class such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Myanmar - but not that much (in terms of thread) to the first class like Thailand & Vietnam.

I wish to see the teams from the second class to crown the champion this time. It is too boring to see either Thailand (especially), or Vietnam, or Singapore win the champion. But it is just the wish. The true will be revealed soon!

I am appreciated that Loas has improved a lot in these year, but don't forget that Myanmar has improved as well

We started professional league this year and we are very keen to see our Myanmar team improvment in this Sea-game. and every myanmar expecting their team to go into semi..

Yeah, i hope so. I never deny the development of football in Myanmar. recently, they are doing well.

But the game is in Laos and now the gap between Myanmar and Laos are no big different. While each team may have equal chance to win, Laos has more advantage because they host the game. Most often, the host team is difficult to defeat.

It is interesting to look at the FIFA World Ranking. Currently, the list is as below:

Thailand: 110
Singapore: 119
Indonesia: 129
Vietnam: 134
Myanmar: 140
Malaysia: 150
Philippines: 155
Laos: 170
Cambodia: 171
Brunei: 178
Timore-leste: 198

I think FIFA should update the list. There is no way Singapore and Indonesia above Vietnam nowadays. Laos & Cambodia should be above the Philippines. Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos & Cambodia should be ranked one point respectively.

Yeah, we do aware that Loas is the host team and the gap has been closer. Most of the Myanmar U-23 players has shown concern about it. So they will play Loas with respect. So we will see..obviously we all want to see our team to beat all the other teams

for me, i would be very happy if Myanmar beat Singapore

For the Fifa ranking, it only counts the result of the full NT, not U23 teams. So the results from this sea-game would not affect the fifa ranking.

i really hope that malaysian football team will improve during this SEA Games...so sad because malaysian team was the best football team in asia once upon a time...although it was a history but it hopes to gain the morale of the players...

fight back malaysia..remember we were once the gold medallist in SEA games..

I will pray for the success of malaysian team.since 1989, there were so many tears and sad stories...

As we can see now, many people in SEA are not mentioning our country as the powerhouse of football anymore...

we should be better rite now, with so many facilities, exposures..dont let down the malaysian....

eventhough there were no medal target, it is better to be like that....prediction is always the prediction..the actual result will be banking on the feet of first eleven....

The Champian is gathered with Tactic / Player Skill and Experience for international revel and the most important is gap between first line up tem and reserev due to it's tournament.

Thailand is be in line for reason above.

I just wanna throw in my 2cents. I love Laos ppl - how peaceful and friendly they are (my aunt is living there biggrin

) I really hope they can progress to the semi finals.

They're playing well - though still weaker than Singapore, Indonesia but Singapore team is very young (average 19 years of age) and Indonesia is always so random. Football is a funny game in that it's always hard to predict. If Laos can somehow manage a win with any of those teams, I think Laos will have a chance to proceed to the semi.

I'm cheering for Laos too!

Agree with you all but for 1st Place......i really unconfident with your result.
There only 30-40% that vietnam can beat thailand.

Our National team has beaten Cambodia and Laos before so... I think the FIFA ranking is correct. Well, whatever happens, we will just cheer everyone in the finals. As you know we are not a football loving country. :) :)

i think vietnam is the strongest side...malaysia second...3rd will be spore or thailand...

thai is not good enough this time..sorry..just my opinion...+ steve darby is the disaster for thai bcoz from my observation when he was the coach for Perak(in malaysia super league),he sucks!

The truth never changes.
Ranking in FIFA never lie.
Not that I have overcome in the Thai team. But believes that it is so.
And I have not insulted or overlooked for the chance of other teams, Such as Singapore, Vietnam and Laos also.

Serbia has a ranking higher than France but what is the reason why they can qualify for the world cup final round automatically, and France has to play-off with Ireland....

Football man... let's talk about Football not a Mathermatic subject in the school class.

I believe that Thailand might get a chance once again and the only two conditions that could collapse them pride of this....... is "WILL or DETERMINATION" from another good team such as Vietnam, Singapore and Lao and "Thailand bend down themselve from them poor performance" only these two conditions actually.

I do not know actually why Indonesia team has burn down from the great football in this region...

Notwithstanding Thai team has a very bad preparation and has a very bad player collecting system and bad coaches (Steve and his assistant Kiattisak), the potential player will show them own skill of each player to help them win but not from them team-working, team well-system etc.,.

You have to know the truth that Thailand has a Thai F.A which this organization always corrupt everything and everyway the could find out for them benefits. As you can see, Thailand deal sponsor with Nike but in this tournament they use Grandsport from the double sponsor and double deals.. shamely

Thai F.A love to collect them boy than another well-performance in the league and does not care to go aginst every football science.... such as keep them boy in the team and kick a well-performed player out of the team.

The Chair man of Thai F.A (FiFa member) always treat themself like a Adoft Hitler. this is the same previous them prime minister... who's corruptor the same.

He loves to control, to be a center of all kind of benefit deal matters.

Do u know why robby come to take place reid???? Reid paid attention to build up a good team but this sicked chairman loved to control him and always pressed reid to work for him pleasure..... that's finally why he was sick and tired with this group of corruptors and this thai F.A chairman, then he handed off and left....
