Tell all of you a truth. I'm Isaan-Thai who was born in NongKai (which opposite of Vientien) but now I stay and work in Bangkok
I convince that all of of Isaan-Thai who live in north eastern part of Thailand realize ourselves as a Thai people. We don't think that we are Laos although our local culture and language are similar to Loas.
So many times when I went to abroad for international congress. Vietnamese friends (sometime Laos friends) ask this question frequently. They asked "We know you are Thai because you have Thai passport but we mean ,excuse me, your feeling. you are Thai or Loas?
Of course Thai. I reply. and I believe that 100% of Isaan-Thai reply this question also same as me.
